Born from the obscure corners of 90s Japanese PC gaming, Giten Megami Tensei: Tokyo Mokushiroku is a gritty, non-canonical detour in the Megaten franchise. You play as a survivor in an underground shelter, training to be a demon hunter until a simulation goes haywire and tosses you into a demon-infested Tokyo. It is a clunky, first-person dungeon crawler that leans hard into the series' signature bleak atmosphere. While it lacks the polish of its console siblings, it remains a fascinating, moody relic for those who want to see just how dark and weird the Megaten universe can get when it goes off the rails.
